Huntington Beach, Calif. - Ashleigh Atsaros and Andrea Gonzalez won the Orange Empire Conference Pairs Championship Friday afternoon on their home court in day two of the championships.
Sixteen pairs made it to day two as Atsaros and Gonzalez continued their dominance as the number one pairs team for the Rustlers and had earned the number three overall seed heading into the two day championship.
They beat Irvine Valley College's top pair of Kaawaloa and Ramseyer in the semifinals to move on and play Santa Ana's top pair of Mikelle Taylor and Viridiana Serrano in the championship match. The pairs battled through three sets until the Golden West duo claimed victory to earn the programs first Orange Empire Conference Pairs Championship.
Atsaros and Gonzalez with the conference championship in tow, will move on to try and earn the programs first California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) pairs state title on Friday May 4th at IVC.
