Baseball: Another One Run Loss; Andavolgyi Tallies 8 RBI's

Huntington Beach, Calif. - In a matchup featuring two of the top left handed arms, no one imagined Golden West's Ricky Tiedemann and Orange Coast's Chazz Martinez to be done after three innings in a another one run loss for Golden West, 11-10.

Tiedemann lasted 2.2 innings surrendering six runs on eight hits while striking out five but walking five in a no decsion outing. It appears that the Golden West offense has woken up as they used a Cole Andavolgyi grand slam in the bottom of the first to take an early and much needed 4-3 lead. OCC had other plans in the top of the second when they plated two runs to grab the lead right back at 5-4 and they would tack on another run in the top of third inning to make it a 6-4 game. The red hot bat of Andavolgyi struck again in the third to tie the game at 6-6 after a two RBI double to give him six runs batted in through three innings.

OCC took a four run lead in the sixth inning while using the long ball and taking advantage of some wild pitches from Golden West's reliever Jason Blood. Logan Gallina would hit his third home run in as many games in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 11-8, setting up the possible late game comeback. Andavolgyi delivered a huge one out triple in the bottom of the ninth to make it a one run ball game and putting him 90 feet away from tying it up. OCC brought in their closer Cameron Mahaffy who slammed the door closed with two strike out to end the game.

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Orange Coast on Friday, April 30th for a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
