Mens Soccer Ties Santiago Canyon with Late Goal

Huntington Beach, Calif. – Golden West (6-0-4, 2-0-2) men's soccer was able to salvage a 2-2 tie against Santiago Canyon College (2-4-4, 0-2-3) Friday afternoon.

The Rustler's had many chances to put the ball in the net but just couldn't capitalize on their opportunities to gain a large lead. In what was a very physical match between the two teams Golden West was able to put five shots on goal. Erick Gomez would finally find the back of the net at the 40th minute to give the Rustlers a 1-0 lead at halftime. 

Santiago Canyon would get on the board and tie the match at 1-1 with a goal by Kevin Perez. Then a controversial free kick was award to Santiago Canyon just outside the 18 yard box that Amirgy Pineda would somehow get through the Rustler four-man wall to take the lead 2-1 late in the second half.

The Rustlers would use some hard runs to even the match at 2-2 when Mark Hernandez would center a ball for Anthony Saldana to kick into the net at the 87th minute.
