Men's Soccer Stays on Top of the OEC

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West College Men's Soccer team continued their unbeaten run with a 4-2 win against Cypress College.

The Rustlers came out quick and found the back of the net in just the third minute when Brian Montano played a beautiful through ball to Steven Carrera, who ran in behind the Cypress defense to tuck the ball past the outreached arms of the goalkeeper. 1-0 remained the score as the referee blew his whistle for halftime.

With a few tactical adjustments made by Head Coach Alex Gimenez, the Rustler's came out of halftime and quickly made it 2-0 in the 48th minute with Anthony Saldana finishing a penalty kick. The Rustlers struck again just a minute later when Mark Hernandez scored off a pass from Erick Gomez in the 49th minute. The Rustlers', Anthony Saldana found the back of the net again the 52nd minute off of a great pass by Ivan Pineda. Cypress continued to work and found themselves two goals in the 54th and 59th minute, but the Rustlers were able to take back control of the game and the score finished at 4-2.
