Gimenez Named Conference Coach of the Year for Men's Soccer

Head coach Alex Gimenez who is in his 16th season at Golden West and 7th as the head coach, guided the Rustlers to a 17-3-3 overall record and 11-2-1 Orange Empire Conference record while earning the Coach of the Year award in back to back seasons.

Golden West fought hard all season as they earned an appearance in the Southern California Regional finals at Cerritos College, but lost 3-2 in sudden death penalty kicks. This was the Rustler's deepest run in the playoffs since 2014 when they made it to the SoCal Regional Finals at Mt. San Antonio. Gimenez has guided the Rustler's to the playoff's in five of the last six seasons with a State Tournament berth in 2012 and two appearances in the SoCal Regional finals (2014 & 2017.)

The Rustler's were an exciting offensive team to watch this season as they led the conference in shots with 175 for an average of 12.5 shots a match which was almost 3.5 shots more than the next team in Santa Ana.

Defensively they were as solid as it comes, they were first in goals against, surrending 13 goals total in 14 conference matches and led the OEC with seven shutouts.
