Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West men's soccer team controlled the ball and never allowed the Compton College Tartars offense to establish themselves in a 2-0 victory Tuesday afternoon.
Giovanni Ortiz scored the match's first goal in the 31st minute on heads up play after the Tartars defender failed to clear the ball. Ortiz gained control within the 18 yard box to easily put the ball past the keeper for the 1-0 lead. Ricky Briseno netted his third goal of the season in the 68th minute from a nice assist from Alexis Rodriguez. The Rustler offense held ball possession for majority of the match as the Tarters offense only mustard one shot on goal in 90 minutes of play. This led to another shut out win at home for Golden West which improves to 3-0-1 with the win.
Golden West will be on the road next at Long Beach City College on September 14th for a 1pm kickoff.
