Long Time Cross Country and Track Coach Retires

Huntington Beach, Calif. - After 29 seasons at Golden West College as the head coach of the men's cross country and track programs, Matt Simpson retires.

He leaves a lasting mark with the track program that saw many individual sport successes, most recently with shot put and discus in 2019 when Blake Spencer finished in the top five finishes in both events. Along with pole vaulters in 2017 and 2018 with two top five vaulters in the state.

A distance runner at heart, Simpson looks to enjoy his retirement to spend more time with his wife Lori, family, and running with the Cal Coast Track Club.
