Sacramento, Calif. – The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) selected the 2021-22 Golden West College men's water polo team as a Scholar team award recipient.

Not only were they the 2021 CCCAA state champions and competed at the highest level in the pool, but the team also competed just as hard in the classroom. To be selected as the scholar team award recipient a minimum of a team 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale needs to be earned, the Rustlers earned a 3.39 team GPA while earning their fifth consecutive state championship.

Golden West had seven student-athletes with a 4.0 and 12 more members with a 3.0 or better. The team finished 28-2 while capturing the Orange Empire Conference and SoCal Regional titles.  

The Scholar Team Award is the highest academic team achievement given annually by the CCCAA. All team members must have excelled academically with a total GPA of 3.0 or higher. The team should have demonstrated better-than-average accomplishments in intercollegiate athletic competition.
