Stephanie Engle has been named head softball coach at Golden West College
Golden West College Athletics Director Albert Gasparian announced today that Stephanie Engle has been named head softball coach at Golden West College.

"I am excited to be a part of the Golden West family and would like to thank the Athletic Director, Albert Gasparian, for giving me the job of a lifetime. While saying goodbye to Chapman was bittersweet, I can not wait to begin laying the foundation for many Championship titles here at Golden West."

Engle comes to Golden West after spending the previous four years as the Assistant Coach at Chapman University (Orange, CA), where she helped lead the Panthers to two SCIAC Championship tournament appearances and coached three All-West Region and 11 All-SCIAC selections. For the Panthers, she worked with the infielders, hitters and enhanced the strength and conditioning program. With Engle on staff, the Panthers saw their offensive numbers increase with their batting average, stolen bases, slugging percentage and on-base percentage rising in each of the past four years.

Albert Gasparian, Dean of Health Education, Kinesiology and Athletics Director is excited about bringing Engle on board. "Coach Engle brings a great vision for Golden West softball. We are thrilled to have a coach who played at the two-year and four-year level and someone who has as championship mindset as we embark on a new chapter of softball here at Golden West."

Engle's collegiate athletic career blossomed at Mt. San Antonio College (2010-2011) where she helped the Mounties to South Coast Conference and Southern Regional Championships. She then transferred to Chapman University, where Engle batted .346 over two-seasons (2012-13), slugged five home runs and drove in 44 runs. She helped Chapman to its first-ever SCIAC postseason tournament in 2013, while hitting cleanup for the Panthers. Engle, the four-time NFCA All-Academic team member, finished her career with a .498 slugging percentage and .415 on-base percentage.

After graduating from Chapman with a BA in Public Relations and Advertising in 2013, Engle went on to receive her master's degree in Sport Management from California State University, Long Beach and currently resides in Huntington Beach.

Engle will begin her duties with the program later this month, with the team scheduled to begin fall practice and off season competition in September.
