Huntington Beach, Calif. - The 2021 softball home opener came and went Friday as Golden West College was swept 9-0 and 16-4 by Santa Ana College.
Game one saw a dominate pitching performance from the Dons ace, Emily Rosas. She gave up two hits over five innings of work while striking out six Rustlers. Sennie Viramontes and Lali Rios tallied the only two hits for Golden West, both singles.
Game two saw the Golden West offense score their first runs of the season. They got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Rios smacked an RBI single to Cieanna Parker-Islas to cut the Don lead to 6-1. The offense really got things going in the bottom half of the third inning when plated three runs on two while taking advantage of two Dons errors.
NEXT: Golden West will host Saddleback on Wednesday April 21st starting at 1pm.
