Softball: Swarmed by Hornets; Offense Shutout

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West softball team continues to be held winless as they were shutout in both games of today's home doubleheader against Fullerton 11-0 and 11-0. 

The Golden West offense managed two base runners in the game one, they both reached in the bottom of the fifth when Yazmine Banos was hit by a rolling pitch and Brittany Seely reached on a traditional walk. Fullerton's starting pitcher, Jessica Lopez struck out five Rustlers in three innings of work while her reliever came in and struck out two more over the final two frames to secure the 11-0 win. 

In game two the Hornets jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the first frame and tacked on the final six runs in the third inning for the 11-0 shutout win. Michelle Sheedy recorded the Rustlers lone hit on the afternoon in the bottom of the fifth inning with a double to the left center field gap. 

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Fullerton on Friday, May 7th for a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
