W Basketball: Rustlers Upset at Home to the Rams

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West's star guard, Meghan McIntyre led all scorer's with 30 points but it wasn't enough as the Rustlers were upset at home by Victor Valley 82-71.

The Rustlers had some rust to shake off in their first home game since December 14 as they fell behind after the first quarter 16-10. Head coach Barry Migliorini got the offense back on track in the second quarter and was able to cut the lead to 28-25 with 3:43 remaining before half. McIntyre hit a huge layup about a minute later to make it a one point game at 31-30 but that would be as close as this game would get. The Rams went on a 12-1 run to close out the first half with a 43-31 lead.

Both teams traded buckets for most of the third quarter as Victor Valley was able to keep their lead safe. It was McIntrye again in the fourth quarter trying to spark the Rustler offense with a big three pointer with 2:06 on the clock to make it a 74-66 ball game. The Rams stayed solid from the free throw line down the stretch to earn the win.

Golden West will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Cypress for a 7pm tip-off.
