W Basketball: McIntyre and Smith Named to ALL-OEC First and Second Teams

The coaches from the Orange Empire Conference convened over the weekend, with one of the tasks being the selection of the All-Orange Empire Conference Team.

The Rustlers had freshman point guard Meghan McIntyre named to the first team All-OEC and freshman shooting guard Makaia Smith named to the second team All-OEC. Golden West just completed it's second season since the program was cut following the 2007-08 season and finished 14-13 overall and 2-10 in OEC play.

McIntyre did it all for Golden West this season as she led the team and conference with 22.4 points per game, which also ranked her sixth in the state. Scoring wasn't McIntyre's only standout attribute as she averaged 8.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Smith who was named on the second team All-OEC made her impact felt on the boards and defensively as she averaged 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.4 steals per game in her freshman campaign.
