GWC Women Touch First in 7 Events

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Despite winning seven events, Golden West's women's swim team came up short in total points in the 2016 Orange Empire Conference season opener. The team finished fourth for the day, but when the Rustlers won, they commanded their events.

The women's 200 yard free relay team, comprised of Madison Marisco, Raney Remme, Suzanna Gonzales and Sydney Anderson  took first place with a time of 1:42.31.

Gonzales went on to win three more events for Golden West – the 500 yard freestyle (5:10.58), the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.80) and the endurance testing 1650 yard freestyle in 18:14.99.

Varisco racked up three individual wins of her own when she touched first in the 100 yard butterfly (58.81),  then the 100 yard backstroke (59.85) and with a time of 54.44, she took the top spot in the 100 yard freestyle.

The next OEC meet will be at Fullerton College on Friday, March 25th at 1:00pm.
