Despite a late comeback attempt by El Camino, Golden West advanced to the third round of the CCCAA So Cal regional playoffs with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-21 sweep at home.
It was neck and neck throughout the entire match, but Golden West came out the victor over Orange Coast by a final of 28-26, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19 at home.
Both Golden West (10-0) and Fullerton (10-1) came into this match with undefeated records. The Rustlers came out on top of a match consisting of three hard-fought sets.
Currently ranked No. 3 in the state, Golden West maintained their winning streak, after defeating Orange Coast on the Pirates' floor in 4 sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22).
Golden West opened Orange Empire Conference competition Friday night with a straight-set victory over Santa Ana College. The Rustlers defeated the Dons with the final set scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-16.
