W Volleyball: Shakes Off the Rust for a 3-0 Sweep to Open 2021 Campaign

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College women's volleyball program hasn't played a match since November of 2019 but that didn't stop them from sweeping Southwestern in three sets 32-30, 25-16, and 25-17.

In the first set, each team was shaking off the rust of not playing since 2019 as the Rustlers came away with a slim 32-30 opening set win. That was as close as the Jaguars would get to winning a set as Golden West found their rythym in the second set to cruise 25-16 and take a 2-0 lead. The third set, Southwestern kept it close for a little bit until Golden West stomped on the gas pedal to pull away for the 25-17 match clinching sweep.

Freshman outside hitter, Adriana Morales led Golden West with 10 kills with Ryann Gaglio right behind her with 7 kills. Freshman setter, Katie Griffin dished out 26 assists with 11 digs to help the attack in the season opening sweep.

NEXT: Golden West will host Santa Monica on Wednesday, September 1 at 5pm.
