W Water Polo: Strong Start Falls Short in the Second Half

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The women's water polo team came ready to play against one of the top teams in the state in Riverside City College, but couldn't get anything going in the second half and fall 14-4. 

The Rustlers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Caitly Kissinger found the back of the net less than a minute into the match. Both teams would trade goals until the Tigers rattled off three straight to take a 4-2 lead but with nine seconds remaining Golden West's Kylie Stablein netted her lone goal to make it 4-3 at the end of the first. 

The defense settled in for both teams in the second quarter as Riverside netted two goals and Golden West netted one for a 6-4 score heading into halftime. 

The second half featured the Tigers scoring eight unanswered goals en route to the 14-4 OEC win. 

NEXT: Golden West will play in the Long Beach City Tournament and take on the Philippine National team at 8am.
