Huntington Beach, Calif. - On a chilly and windy Friday the beach volleyball team opened the 2018 season beating Palomar College four sets to one and edging El Camino College three sets to two. 

Palomar Results: 4-1

Number 1 pairs Ashleigh Atsaros and Andrea Gonzalez (GWC) beat Kianna Niu and Noemi Ramos (Palomar) 21-8, 23-21.

Number 2 pairs Jasmine Gonzales and Akimi Fujikura (GWC) lost to Mikayla Seiler and Phebe Ly (Palomar) 19-21, 21-15, 5-15.

Number 3 pairs Cherene Uale and Amanda Sosa (GWC) beat Sammy Radebaucgh and Sara Mitchell (Palomar) 21-19, 14-21, 15-6.

Number 4 pairs Keilani Pearson and Erica Cantley (GWC) beat Madyson Lozano and Cristina Garcia (Palomar) 21-18, 21-9.

Number 5 pairs Melissa Martinez and Holly Hennessy (GWC) won by forfeit.

El Camino Results: 3-2

Number 2 pairs Jasmine Gonzales and Akimi Fujikura (GWC) lost to Aiko Waters and Phina Leilua (ECC) 15-21, 11-21.

Number 3 pairs Cherene Uale and Amanda Sosa (GWC) beat Jaylin Motley and Sarah Dyer (ECC) 21-15, 13-21, 15-13.

Number 4 pairs Keilani Pearson and Erica Cantley (GWC) beat Natasha Dutko and Jossie Tomita (ECC) 21-13, 13-21, 15-13.

Number 5 pairs Melissa Martinez and Holly Hennessy (GWC) lost to Glorious Owens amd Kiana Takahashi (ECC) 12-21, 12-21
