M Soccer: Wins in SoCal Regional Championship, Advances to CCCAA State Tournament

Walnut, Calif. - The Golden West men's soccer team advances to the CCCAA State Soccer Championships with a 2-0 shutout win over Mount San Antonio College on Saturday night.

Both teams played even for the first 30 minutes with numerous yellow cards handed out.

The Mounties had the first scoring opportunity in the 18th minute when they took a direct shot at the Golden West keeper Jose Vega, but he came up with a big stop.

The Rustlers scored in each half with the first coming in the 32nd minute that was taken way outside of the 18-yard box and deflected off of a player into the left side of the net.

The second came with a man advantage as Mt. SAC's received a red card in the 51st minute and the Mounties played the rest of the game with 10 field players. That was followed by the second goal six minutes later in the 57th minute after a scramble and the loose ball was knocked in from just outside the box for the 2-0 lead.

NEXT: The #6 seeded Rustlers advanced to the state final four at Ventura College this Friday, November 30th. Time and opponent to be determined.
