M Volleyball: Fall to Pirates in Four Sets

Huntington Beach, Calif. - In a matchup against the number one ranked and unbeaten Orange Coast College, Golden West fell in four sets 13-25, 16-25, 25-20, 11-25 Wednesday night. 

The Rustlers (8-8, 3-4) hung in for as long as they could in the second set as they were tied with the Pirates (19-0, 6-0) 12-12 midway through the set but Coast proved to be too much and went on a 13-4 run to earn the set win. The third set featured the same as the second set as both teams were tied 14-14 with the exception, Golden West went on a 11-6 run to take the set and force a fourth set. Unfortunately, the Pirates took control of the fourth set early on and cruise to 25-11 match clinching set win 3-1. 

Miguel Flores Jr. led the Rustlers with nine kills, 14 assists, and three aces as he filled in for the injured setter, Brandon Pank. Outside hitter, Matthew Coleman finished the night with seven kills and nine assists. 

NEXT: Golden West will host Irvine Valley College on Wednesday April 10th at 6pm in a must win to get into playoffs.
