M Volleyball: Swept in Three Sets by the Pirates

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West men's volleyball hosted their first home match in almost 14 months Wednesday night and were swept by Orange Coast 3-0. 

The first set saw a back and forth battle as both teams were trying to shake the rust off from the long layoff. Eventually, OCC would pull out the late set win 26-24 after a couple of mistakes by Golden West. Outside hitter, Jack Baker led the Rustlers with seven kills on the night while right side, Tanner Briggs was right behind him with six kills. 

Set two saw the same back and forth battle till midway through the set when the Pirates went on a 5-0 run to take a 18-13 lead to never look back, Golden West would lose the set 25-18. Setter Mac Beggs did all he could talling 18 assists with one block solo and 2 block assists. 

Golden West came out a little slow in the third set as the Pirates would cruise to the 3-0 sweep with another 25-18 set win to end the match. 

 

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Orange Coast on Friday, April 30th for a 6pm start.
