M Volleyball: Briggs 17 Kills Leads Golden West Past Hornets

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College men's volleyball team came out swinging Friday night as they cruised to a 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-11) victory over the visiting Fullerton College Hornets. 

The Rustlers dominated the first two sets as they hit .458 and .360 as a team to hold an early 2-0 match lead. Sophomore right side, Tanner Briggs led all Rustlers with 17 kills as he dominated the net all night. Setter/libero Mark Aparicio was sensational with 23 digs as he seemed to have a part in every point scored. 

Golden West stumbled in the thrid set 25-23 after leading most of the way as they committed too many hitting errors. The men got back on track in the fourth set as they won easily 25-11 to complete the four set win. 

With the win, Golden West earned the fourth seed in the upcoming Orange Empire Conference championships. The Rustlers will host the fifth seeded Santiago Canyon College Hawks Wednesday, May 19th for a 6pm start. The match will be live streamed on GWC Athletic Events YouTube channel.
