W Volleyball: Celebrates Sophomores with Five Set Victory

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The 2022 regular season finale provided a five-set thriller with the Rustlers coming out victorious on sophomore night 25-15, 21-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-8. 

Six sophomores were honored Adriana Morales, Iliana Galindo, Katie Griffin, Paige Phillips, Olivia Robertson, and Cassie Flores.

Golden West jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a convincing 25-15 set win but then faltered in the second set to Riverside City 25-21 to head into the third set 1-1.

Outside hitter Maci Hendry tallied a season high 24 kills in the match and helped the Rustlers take set three handily 25-14. Golden West had the opportunity to end the match in the fourth but again they couldn't close it out as the Tigers forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-20 set win in the fourth.

The Rustlers closed it out in the fifth set with a 15-8 victory to end the regular season with a win.

Galindo tallied 12 kills with a team high 21 digs in her effort to secure the win.

Golden West will await the CCCAA State Playoff seeding meeting to determine who and where they will play next Saturday, November 19 at 6pm.
