Fullerton, Calif. - The Golden West women's water polo team claimed third in the Orange Empire Conference championships hosted by Fullerton College this past weekend. 

Kourtney Pyle led the Rustlers with five goals in the 10-4 third place victory against Cypress College Saturday morning. Golden West took a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter as Pyle netted two her goals and teammates Cam Greer and Brogan Stout recorded a goal apiece. 

The Chargers made some adjustments to start the second quarter and cut the Rustler lead to 6-4 heading into halftime. Again it was Greer and Pyle finding the back of the net for the Rustlers in the second quarter. Head coach Matt Flesher made key defensive adjustments during the half as the Rustlers would go on to shut out the Chargers in the second half en route to their 10-4 win. 

Golden West will now play Cuesta College in the Southern California Regional Championships that begin on Thursday, November 8th at Cerritos College.
