Welcome to Golden West College (GWC) in the beautiful city of Huntington Beach, California. As part of the Coast Community College District in southern California, our most important goal is Student-Athlete Success: Winning on the field, on the track, in the pool, in the gym and, especially in the classroom! These are GWC Student-Athletes and we are preparing them to transition to a four-year academic institution or into a chosen career. To ensure that our student-athletes receive the best possible academic support while representing GWC in state-wide competitions, we now provide a Student-Athlete Success Center, Student-Athlete Tutoring Program and a Student-Athlete Mentoring Program that provides one-on-one mentoring by former intercollegiate athletes. Our goal is to meet the specific academic needs of each and every one of our student-athletes to ensure they are able to represent GWC in their respective sport.

The mission of Golden West College Athletic program functions as an integral part of the academic and social environment of the community in which it resides. Golden West Athletics is dedicated to providing its student-athletes with opportunities to experience the valuable lessons of self-discipline, competition, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, character building, and community involvement through academic success and athletic participation.
Golden West Athletics is intended to foster a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students on campus and to help provide a focus for friends, alumni, and supporters. While providing quality academic support, transfer, career, and life-long learning programs that prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed for success in life.
We want our athletic program to be a large, comprehensive program by offering an academic and athletic experience that will serve the needs of local high school athletes and the surrounding communities.
The Athletic Department strives to offer an outstanding learning environment that shares the educational mission of the college by providing opportunities for interpersonal growth, social development, academic success and physical health in order for our student-athletes to become educated and responsible citizens who will take their place in society.
