Rustlers Spot Six In The First

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Rustlers off to a slow start, spotting six runs in the first inning by Cypress was too much to overcome and fell to the Charges 10-5 in an Orange Empire Conference game.  Golden West drops to 11-7-1 and 3-3 in conference as Cypress improves to 13-4 and 4-2 in conference.

Trailing 6-0 just after the first inning, Golden West put together two runs in the second inning when Bobby Webb walked, Kyle Jones walked advancing Webb to second and Alex Hernandez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Josh Cunningham reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Bobby Webb.  On the same play, Kyle Jones scored on an error by Cypress's shortstop.

Rustlers were able to get one more in the third when Chase Harrison reach first on an error by the shortstop, Blake Cooper's single to right, a sacrifice bunt advanced both runners and a ground ball to short scores Harrison to pull within 3.

But that would be as close as the Rustlers would get as Cypress expanded their lead by another four runs.  Golden West answered back in the bottom of the ninth with two of their own, but it was too little too late as the Rustlers drop their home game against the Chargers.
