Riverside Tigers Get Tamed

Riverside Tigers Get Tamed

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West got on the score board right before the seventh inning stretch and held the lead to tame the Tigers 3-2. The Rustlers (9-8, 2-2) defense held Riverside (12-6, 2-2) scoreless until the last inning, but 2 runs was not enough to take the win away from the Rustlers.

From the first inning to the fifth, the game looked the same, players at bat grounding out, some would advance to second, some would strike out, but everything stopped at third base. Both teams' short stops were the busiest men on the field, each making critical plays to stop the other team from advancing.

At the bottom of the 6th, Rustlers Keegan Reeser hit the first double of the game advancing Nicolas Marshall to third and sending Kyle Jones and Bobby Webb home. Riverside made a pitching change, and with this new pitcher came a wild pitch that would sealed the Tigers fate. The pitch allowed Marshall to get home and the score was 3-0.

The top of the ninth, Riverside's David Schuknecht sent one to the fences, scoring the first home run of the game. One more Tiger crossed home plate, but it was not enough to catch the Rustlers.

Jason Deitrich pitching  8 innings for Golden West, throwing 5 strikeouts.  Isaiah Terrazas was brought in for 1 inning and struck out one player.

NEXT: The men travel to Cypress Saturday, March 9th for a 12:00 game.
