Chargers Drain The Rustlers Offense

Cypress, Calif. - Golden West could not find another run to beat out the Chargers Saturday. The Rustlers (9-9, 2-3) defense held Cypress (12-5, 3-2) after their first run in the top of the 2nd until the 8th inning. With only 1 Rustler crossing home plate, the Chargers took the win. 

The top of the first inning showed that Golden West was there to work, stopping each hit in the in-field, and with three ups and three outs, the Chargers first at bat was short lived. 

Cypress scored on a single in the top of the 2nd with players on second and third. Putting the Chargers in an early lead. Rustler defense moved through the next 6 innings keeping Cypress off home plate. the Chargers would score again in the top of the 8th bringing 2 runners home, bringing Cypress's score to 3.

At the bottom of 8th, Golden West's Connor Larson came in to pinch hit for Keegan Reeser, Larson doubled and Michael Gregory came in as pinch runner. Greg advanced to third off a SAC fly by Frank Califano. Daniel Dewolf singled, and with the RBI send Greg home to put the Rustlers on the board.  

The effort was not enough to catch the Chargers and the game ended with two pop ups to first base and one hit the flew out to right field.
