Rustlers Chase After Chaffey

Rustlers Chase After Chaffey

Huntington Beach, Calif. - With a slow start to the game, it looked like Golden West could keep pace with visiting Chaffy College (14-9), but with consecutive scoring in the 5th through 8th inning, Chaffey walked away with the win. Rustler baseball (11-14, 4-7) will take to the road next to see if they can defeat Chaffey at home.

Chaffey got on the board first in the top of the 3rd with a triple by Ryan Goodman, bring a runner home to score, and would eventually defeat the Rustlers by scoring once per inning.

The bottom of the 4th, Golden West brought some fire on the field, with Thomas Walker and Soloman Williams each crossing home. Walker, who doubled when up to bat, advanced to third as Williams reached on an error from Chaffey's second baseman. Tanner Brown's single brought Walker home and Williams came home after Daniel Dewolf reached first on a fielder's choice, combined with an error by the defense's first base player.

For Golden West, the defensive efforts could not hold Chaffey back from slowly working their way around the bases, one run, one inning at a time. Rustler bats, unfortunately could not connect, and in the bottom of the 6th, 1 batter flied out to center field, and the other 2 struck out swinging.

NEXT: Rustlers travel to Chaffey for a 2pm game on Thursday March 28th.
