Deitrich Pitches For The Win

Irvine, Calif. - Golden West improved its record to 15-19 overall and 8-11 in conference, while Irvine Valley fell to 10-23 overall and 5-14 in conference after defeating IVC over the weekend. Jason Deitrich pitched a complete game for the win for Golden West to improve his record to 5-4.

He kept Irvine Valley off the board until the bottom of the ninth inning when the Lasers scored their two runs. Deitrich allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.Golden West had 17 hits to support him.

The Rustlers scored single runs in the top of the second, third and fourth innings to go up, 3-0. Golden West broke the game open with two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-0 lead.

In the seventh, Bobby Webb hit a solo home run to left field with one out and then Soloman Williams hit an RBI single through the right side later in the inning.

Golden West added a run in the top of the eighth and then scored four runs in the top of the ninth.

In the ninth, Kyle Jones drove in a run with a groundout, Daniel Dewolf had an RBI double and Sean Whiteman and Frank Califano each had RBI singles.

Irvine Valley got its two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a RBI groundout by freshman right fielder Cody Oxby and an RBI single by freshman infielder Brady Zinsser.

The Rustler Baseball team travels to Fullerton on Tuesday, April 23rd for a 2pm game.
