Rustlers come home, earn the win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - After a rough road trip, Golden West came home and went back to its winning ways, earning a 7-1 victory over L.A. Harbor at Hoover Field.

Golden West (5-3) put a 1-3 road trip on the backburner and came out swinging, scoring 3 runs in the first inning. The game quieted down a little from there until the sixth inning on as the Rustler batters put together timely hits and capitalized off L.A. Harbor's (3-3) multiple miscues.

What stood out in today's contest was the effort of starting pitcher David Wiggins. Wiggins threw a complete game and had the shutout until the eighth inning. He surrendered only 5 hits and had spot-on command of the strike zone totaling 6 strikeouts.

The top of the Rustler's lineup was on point today as leadoff hitter Frank Califano and number two hitter Connor Larson each had 2 hits. Left fielder Adam Daymude came through with runners on base going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Golden West and L.A. Harbor will meet two more times this week. Game two of the series will be on Thursday at L.A. Harbor, and the final game will be noon start at Hoover Field.
