Bakersfield starter too much for Rustlers

Bakersfield starter too much for Rustlers

After walking-off twice in a row on Thursday and Friday, Golden West was unable to do so a third time suffering a loss to Bakersfield 2-1 at Hoover Field.

Just like the last game, Golden West (9-5) scored first courtesy of an RBI fielder's choice by Andrew Yazdanbakhsh. That would be the only run for the Rustlers as Bakersfield's starter was on point the rest of the game. Rustler's starting pitcher Mitchell Moore had a solid outing going 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 7 strikeouts.

Bakersfield (4-8) tied the game in the fourth inning with an RBI single and took the lead in the sixth inning scoring on a Michael Chavez throwing error. Renegade's starter Cole Hallum went the distance giving up 1 run on 5 hits and 4 strikeouts.

Yesterday's hero Frank Califano and Jordan Lucio shined at the plate with 2 hits apiece. Lucio and James Stea ruled the base paths with 1 stolen base each.

Golden West will take on Cerritos at Hoover Field this Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
