Rustlers put down by Orange Coast

Rustlers put down by Orange Coast

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West (11-11, 2-5) was kept silent the entire game thanks to great pitching and defense. Orange Coast (16-5, 4-3) starter David Hill had a fine outing throwing 7 innings giving up 1 run on 7 hits and had a whopping 11 strikeouts. Rustlers' starter Isaiah Terrazas did his best to keep his team in the game going 7 innings and gave up only 2 earned runs out of 6 total runs.

Orange Coast began its scoring barrage in the third inning courtesy of an RBI single by Cody Nulph with 2 outs. Two batters later, Tommy Bell smacked a 3-RBI triple to complete the 4 run inning. A sacrifice bunt by Cody Bruder brought in a run in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Rustlers did its best to chip away at the lead as Frank Califano batted in Danny Maguire with a single in the fifth inning. Unfortunately for Golden West, that would be all the runs scored and the nightmare was just beginning.

Orange Coast tacked on another run in the seventh inning, but the eighth inning was where the wheels fell off for the Rustlers. Califano was brought in to pitch from center field and he struggled mightily. After getting 1 out, Daniel Delaney laced a double that plated one run. Things got ugly from there as Califano hit 3 batters in a row, which caused 1 run to score. Califano did get his control back, but Nulph sat back and drilled a 3-RBI triple to complete the 5-run inning.

Golden West will be on the road the next couple games traveling to Fullerton March 18 and 20. The Rustlers will come home March 22 to square off against Riverside.
