Rustlers Shut out Lasers 15-0

 

Huntington Beach, Calif. – Golden West (16-13, 8-6) shut out visiting Irvine Valley College (16-13, 6-8) 15-0 to create separation in the Orange Empire conference standings. The Rustlers outhit the Lasers 18-2 in the shutout victory. 

Both leftfielder Kyle Stahl and second baseman Dillon Persinger led the Rustlers with three hits. Persinger went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs batted in, and two runs scored. Stahl also went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in, a double, and a run scored. 

Ryan Kayoda was given the start on the mound for Golden West and improved to 5-1 on the year after his dominant seven inning shutout performance, in which he allowed only two hits and struck out six Laser batters.

Golden West scored all of their runs from innings four to seven. The Rustlers registered three runs in the fourth, six in the fifth, five in the sixth, and one in the seventh. The Rustlers had four extra-base hits, including Jake Caron's triple in the seventh inning.
