Late Run Lifts Rustlers Past Pirates

Huntington Beach, Calif. – After trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Golden West (20-13, 12-6) was able to put up productive late innings to achieve a 5-4 comeback victory over conference rival Orange Coast (20-14, 11-7).

Kyle Stahl (2-for-3) and Dillon Persinger (2-for-4) both registered two hits and catcher Chris Williams knocked in two runs for Golden West.  

Orange Coast outhit Golden West, 13-10.  Orange Coast starting pitcher tossed four scoreless innings before allowing four earned runs. Golden West starter A.J. Dean also allowed four runs but in only four innings of work. 

In the bottom fifth inning, James Stea got the Rustlers on the board with an rbi single to score center fielder Kyle Moore. Later that inning, Chris Williams hit a two-run single to bring the Rustlers within one, 4-3. 

In the sixth, Kyle Moore singled to score Persinger and knot up the game 4-4. The seventh inning was quiet but Persinger was able to return the favor in the eighth when he hit an rbi single to bring home Gianni Castillo.

Leading 5-4, pitcher Josh Goque (5-3) was credited the win when he pitched three scoreless innings and close out the game to give Golden West the 5-4 win over Orange Coast.
