John Shattles Crushes 420ft, 3-Run Home Run

Huntington Beach, Calif.- After a tough first match up with Bakersfield, the Rustlers bounced back to beat the Renegades 8-5. 

Golden West (8-2) got a huge jolt of energy in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Sophomore John Shattles (2 for 3, 3 RBI's) crushed a 420ft 3-run home run to centerfield to put the Rustlers in the lead 3-1. The Rustler offense would go on to score in four of the final six innings to pull out the victory. Five Rustler batters had a multiple hit game: Phillip Knapp 3 for 5 with 1 RBI, Dillon Persinger 2 for 4 with 1BB, Michael Fuchs 2 for 3 with 2 Runs Scored, Daniel Maguire 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 Runs Scored, Shattles 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and 2 Runs Scored.

Sophomore RHP Brett Mays (1-0) came in relief of AJ Dean (ND) to earn his first victory of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 unearned run.
