The Rustler’s to Host First Round of Playoffs

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College Rustlers have received the No. 3 seed and will host the No. 14-seeded Rio Hondo College Roadrunners in a best-of-three opening-round series of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Game 1 is set for Friday (May 6) at 2 p.m. at Hoover Field. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. with a third game if necessary to follow 30 minutes after.

Tickets to the California Community College Athletic Association postseason event cost $12 for general admission and $8 for students/faculty/staff/senior citizens (60+)/children. Cash Only Please. If you would like a tournament pass, they will be available for purchase at the gate - $20 for the adult pass, $14 for student/faculty/staff/senior citzens/children. Pass is only good for first round of play offs.

Golden West finished second place in the Orange Empire Conference at 12-9 and is 23-13 overall heading into the playoffs. The Rustlers are looking to make another run in the SoCal playoffs for the second consecutive season under head coach Bert Villarreal.

The Roadrunners enter the postseason with a 24-12 overall record and finished second in the Foothill Conference with a 19-5 mark. Under head coach Mike Salazar, the Roadrunners are making their 12th consecutive postseason appearance in 2016.

A series victory would advance the Rustlers to the Super Regionals on May 13-15.
