Rustlers Score 9 Runs Early to Cruise Past Panthers

Huntington Beach, Calif. -  Golden West (28-14) ace Tyler Tungate(W, 8-2) earns his eighth victory throwing 8 innings, striking out 8 Panthers, and allowing zero free bases. The Rustler offense made quick work of Chaffey College's(31-11) starter Isaiah Haro(L, 8-3) chasing him off the mound after just an inning plus of work.

The Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two hits and one error. The Rustlers would respond right back in the bottom half of the first inning scoring two runs on two hits and an error to tie the game 2-2. Golden West's offense would explode in the bottom of the second inning sending 12 batters to the plate while producing nine hits that scored seven runs to take the lead for good 9-2.

The Panthers would score three runs in the fifth inning to cut into the lead 9-5. The Rustlers would score two more runs in the sixth inning as John Shattles (2-5 4 RBI) would hit a line drive double down the left field line to extend the lead 11-5. Chaffey would add a run in the ninth to make the final score 11-6.
