Baseball: Rustlers Ready to Start 2019 Season at Home

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The 2019 Golden West College Rustler baseball team is ready to hit the diamond Friday, January 25th against Palomar College at 2pm. 

The Rustlers are looking to get back into the playoff's after just missing out in last season's injury plagued bid. Key returners will help Golden West regain their edge with sophomores Zakk Morgan, Austin Schell, and Eric Romo

First baseman Morgan returns after missing all of the 2018 season due to injury and the offense will benefit greatly as he hit .322 with 46 hits, six doubles, and a triple while driving in 16 runs as a freshman. Catcher Schell returns after hitting .238 with 35 hits, four doubles, two triples, and driving in 15 runs as freshman. Relief pitcher/closer Romo returns after appearing in 20 games last season leading the team in saves with six, and finished with a 3-4 win/loss record.

Top newcomers that will help boost the offense are freshmen infielder Eli Stuart from Northwood HS in Irvine and outfielders Jesse Fonteboa from Basic, Nevada, and Seth Nelson from Fullerton HS.
