Baseball: Opens OEC Play with Loss at Home

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The win streak has come to an end at eight games as the Golden West baseball team opened Orange Empire Conference play this afternoon with a loss to Riverside City College, 11-1.

The Rustlers (11-5, 0-1) ran into a hot Tigers (14-4, 1-0) team that has extended their win streak to seven in a row. Riverside City chased Golden West's starting pitcher, Wyatt Adams, out of the game after five innings pitched surrendering four runs on eight hits.

As for the Rustlers offense, it had a tough time getting into any rythym against the fast paced starting ace for the Tigers. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rusters used a two out rally started by freshman Jesse Fonteboa's single. He then advanced to second on a balk, which led to an RBI single to right center field for designated hitter, Seth Nelson.

The Rustlers would manage two more hits the rest of the way as the offense just couldn't catch a break.

Next: Golden West will travel to Riverside City on Thursday, March 7th for a 2pm start.
