Baseball: Offense Struggles, Rustlers Drop Series with Tigers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West baseball team lost the third game of the three game series that was 1-1 heading into this afternoons loss to Riverside City 7-1.

The Rustler (12-6, 1-2) offense was stifled against an unconventional windup from the Tigers (15-5, 2-1) starting pitcher Alexander Salazar as they muster up four hits heading into the ninth inning. Golden West avoided the shutout in the ninth inning thanks to a couple of pinch hit singles from Ezele Wicks and Justin Bushell. Second baseman Noah Amenta cashed in the Rustlers lone run with an RBI single to center field to score Wicks from second.

That was about as much action as the offense showed today as they were fanned 11 times, seven k's by the starter Salazar and four k's by Tigers reliever Lawrence Castaneda.

Sophomore righthander Eric Romo got the start on the mound for Golden West, throwing 5.2 innings surrendering four runs on six hits while striking out five Tigers.
