Baseball: Offense Musters Two Hits in Shutout Loss

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West baseball team managed to produce two hits in a 4-0 loss in the opening game of this weeks series against Saddleback College. 

The Rustlers (13-10, 4-6) offense got bottled up by the Gauchos wild but effective starter Scott Armstrong who threw seven innings of two hit shutout ball. Ezele Wicks got the first hit for Golden West in the first inning and Jeff Zordani earned the second hit on a ball that the centerfielder lost in the sun in the fourth inning. 

The starter for the Rustlers, Wyatt Adams threw 5.2 innings surrendering 12 hits while giving up four runs and striking out five. Caleb Turner came in relief and shut the door as he threw 3.1 innings surrendering one hit and no runs while stirking out two to keep Golden West in the ball game. 

The Rustlers will travel to Saddleback on Thursday, March 28 for game two of the three game series with a 2pm first pitch.
