Baseball: Bena Earns First Win as the Offense Pounds 20 Hits in Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The baseballs were flying off of the bats today as Golden West beats Cerritos 11-5 in non-conference play.

The Rustler (20-14, 8-10) offense pounded the baseball today as they produced 11 runs on 20 hits as eveyone got into today's ball game. Designated hitter, Seth Nelson provided the spark for the Rustler offense as he led off the bottom of the first with a solo blast to deep right center field for his second homerun of the season. Two batters later, first baseman, Zakk Morgan got in on the long ball fun when he smashed a two run home-run to left field to give the Rustlers an early 3-0 lead. The offense wasn't satisfied with just three runs in the first as they went on to score three more thanks to a RBI base knock by Ely Stuart and a two RBI double from Nelson who led off the inning with the solo blast.

Golden West would tack on two more runs in the second inning as second baseman, Noah Amenta would earn two RBI's on a base knock for a comfortable 8-0 lead after two innings.

Normally a reliever, Nathan Bena got his first start on the mound this season and threw five innings work, scattering five hits while surrendering one run and striking out four Falcons. Carter Schmitz came in for relief of Bena in the sixth inning throwing the last four innings giving up four runs on six hits.

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Chaffey College tomorrow, April 16th for a 2pm start in non-conference action.
