Baseball: Earns the 10 Seed; Will Face SD Mesa in First Round

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The road to Fresno begins with a trip to San Diego Mesa this weekend as the Rustlers earned the 10th seed for the 2019 CCCAA postseason. 

Golden West finished the regualr season on an eight game winning streak and will look to keep it going on Friday, May 3rd for a 2pm start for game one of the best of three series. Game 2 will be Saturday, May 4th at 11am and if necessary, Game 3 will be 30 minutes from the conclusion of Game 2. The squad heads into playoffs with an overall record of 25-14 and finished Orange Empire Conference play at 11-10, good for fourth place in the always tough conference standings. The Olympians enter the playoffs with a 26-12-1 overall record and a 19-5 make in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. 

During the 8 game winning streak to close out the season the offense has really come alive as they have compiled a .367(108-294) batting average as a team, raising the team average by .26 points during that stretch. The catalyst has been Seth Nelson and his hot bat, he is 13 for 29 (.448) with 9 runs, 14 RBIs, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 homeruns. Jesse Fonteboa is right behind Nelson, as he is 12 for his last 29 (.414) with 2 doubles, 2 triples, one home run, and 9 runs scored. Enrique Bennett is sitting on a 11 for 28 (.393) stretch with five doubles and second basemen Justin Simpson is 10 of 23 for a .435 clip with 3 doubles, a triple, and 9 runs scored.
