Baseball: Ibarra, Nelson Selected to First Team All-OEC
The Golden West College baseball team had two first team All-Orange Empire Conference selections as selected by the conference head coaches. 
 
Sophomore, Josh Ibarra has been selected to the first team as a relief pitcher. Ibarra finished the regular season tied for the conference lead with eight saves, second in conference with a 1.90 earned run average, and third in conference in strikeouts with 68. Not only did he get it done in conference play but overall Ibarra finished with a 3-1 record to along with his eight saves. He led the Rustlers with 68 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched while only surrendering 13 runs, 11 that were earned. 
 
Freshman, Seth Nelson has also been selected to the first team as a designated hitter. Nelson has been crucial in the leadoff spot as a spark for the Rustlers, in conference play he batted .392 with seven doubles, two triples, and a homerun. He leads the team in doubles (13) and stolen bases (9), is second on the team in hits (44), triples (3), home runs (3), RBI's (28), and runs scored (30). 
 
Golden West also had three second team all conference selections in starting pitcher Eric Romo, shortstop Nelson Padilla, and utility player Justin Simpson
 
Sophomore hurler Eric Romo complied a 6-3 record with three saves in 62.1 innings pitched and finished the regular season with a 4.33 earned run average. Sophomore shortstop Padilla was as consistent vaccum in the field as he complied a .955 fielding percentage while committing only nine errors in a 198 chances. He was equally as good at the plate for the Rustlers as he finished with a .290 batting average while leading the team in hits with 47. Sophomore utility player Simpson shared time in the outfield and infield all season to be used where needed but primarily split time between centerfield and second base. Offensively he finished with a .333 batting average, seven doubles, one triple, 29 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.
