Baseball: Ibarra Throws 9 Shutout Innings of No Hit Ball in 10 Inning Win

San Diego, Calif. - Josh Ibarra threw nine innings of no hit baseball while striking out 16 Olympians to guide the Rustlers to a 3-0 win in ten innings to open the best of three series.

Ibarra came in leading the Rustlers with eight saves and posting a 1.90 era in mostly relief/closer appearances, throwing no more than five innings in each outing.

The Rustlers offense just couldn't drive the runners in with the clutch hit in the first nine innings but were able to plate runs in the top of the tenth to finally give Ibarra a chance for the win after his stellar performance. Sophomore first baseman, Zakk Morgan paced the offense with a five for five performance, all singles, and eventually scored the games winning run in the tenth with a bases loaded hit by pitch RBI by Ely Stuart. Then the very next at bat, Ezelle Wicks smacked a two RBI single to right center for Golden West to take a comfortable 3-0 lead into the bottom half of the frame.

Alfredo Silva came into to close the game out in the tenth and allowed the Olympians first hit of the ball game but struck out one en route to earning the save and giving the Rustlers a 1-0 series lead.

NEXT: Golden West will play game two of the series at 11am with a chance to clinch the series, if not, game three will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
