Baseball: Bennett and Gallina Drive In The Runs; Edged by the Panthers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West Rustler baseball team hosted the Chaffey College Cougars Friday afternoon. The Rustlers came up short 3-2 after stranding the tying run at second base in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Golden West offense struggled to hit their stride, scoring only one run in the first eight innings. They made an effort at a comeback in the bottom of the ninth scoring one run after a Jesse Fonteboa walk and an Enrique Bennett double to bring him in. However, the Rustlers would be unable to score the winning run after two strikeouts and a pop up would end the inning and the game.

Bennett and Logan Gallina would have the Rustlers only RBI's as starting pitcher Bryce Ruggeroli would go 5.2 innings giving up three earned runs with seven strikeouts.

After dropping 2 games in a row to Chaffey College the Rustlers fall to 2-2 on the season. They look to get back above .500 tomorrow at Grossmont College for a 1pm start.
