Baseball: Nelson's Single in the Eighth Caps Comeback Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Rustlers hosted Bakersfield college Thursday afternoon in the opening game of a three game weekend series. The Rustlers edged out Bakersfield 4-2 in a close one improving to 5-7 on the year.

Golden West trailed 2-1 after four innings before pitcher Nick Merkin would come in relief for the Rustlers giving them four scoreless innings and earning the win after the Rustler offense would tie the game in the sixth inning. Then score two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead 4-2. In the eighth inning, Ely Stuart and Enrique Bennett scored on a two RBI single by Seth Nelson. They then turned the ball over to pitcher Chase Hill who would come in for the three out save and seal the victory.

Next: The Rustlers host Bakersfield for game two of the series tomorrow Friday, February 14th at 1:00.
