Baseball: Walk-Off Walk Propels Rustlers in Four Hour Marathon

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West Baseball team hosted the Fullerton College Hornets Wednesday afternoon. The game took every bit of sunlight to complete, but the Rustlers found a way to prevail in the end! With the Rustlers win they improve to 12-10 overall on the season and 4-1 in conference. The Rustlers have found themselves tied for first in conference and winning five of their last six games after a tough start to the season.

The Rustlers offense exploded in the game for 10 runs, causing Fullerton to use eight different pitchers during the contest. However, Golden West had their share of struggles on the mound as they surrendered 9 runs. The game went back and forth with lead changes between the teams until a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning for J. Fonteboa would score J. Simpson and win it for the Rustlers. Pitcher Connor Friere would be credited with the win as he pitched two innings allowing only one run and striking out two.

Next: The Rustlers travel to Fullerton College Saturday at 2:00pm as they look to complete the sweep.
