Hornets Stung The Rustlers At Home

Costa Mesa, Calif. – Fullerton Hornets played an unstoppable game against the Golden West Rustlers with a final score of 14-48.

Fullerton started the game kicking a field goal in the first 4 minutes to given themselves a 3-0 lead. The Rustlers responded with a 6 play drive for 33-yards in the first quarter. Marcus Sanchez (Anaheim, CA/Canyon HS) caught an 8-yard pass from Chaiyse Hales (Cason, CA/Long Beach Poly HS) for the touchdown. The kick was good from the ever-consistent Peter Marquez (Costa Mesa, CA/Costa Mesa HS) and the Rustlers were up by 4 in the first quarter. Unfortunately, once the Hornets got a hold of the ball, they couldn't be stopped. In the second quarter, Hales pass was intercepted and Fullerton's Titus Hasson ran the ball 37 yards back to score for Fullerton. At the end of the half, the score was 7-31.

In the second half, the Hornets scored another touch down and completed a field goal. In the last minutes of the 4th quarter, Nolan Tippy (Westminster, CA/Ocean View HS) who had come in as quarterback , connected and impressive 61-yard pass to Ryan Watson (Decatur, AL/Austin HS) for the touchdown. Marquez's kick was good and the game ended with a score 14 to 48.

Rustler redemption will be found on the road at Palomar on Sept. 29th at 6:00pm.
